Fast Traffic Ideas for Online Marketers

As an internet marketer and web based home business owner you already know that the key to making sales is to get as much traffic to your website as possible. You don’t have to rely on luck or random visitors to land on your site. With just a couple of hours each day, you can create a lot of ways for people to both find your website and decide that it is worth visiting.

You naturally want to get as many visitors to your website as you can. You have to remember that the more traffic you get, the more sales you will make. As an internet marketer, you do, of course, want to make more sales. Let’s look at some of the best ways to quickly get more traffic to your website.

It’s a good idea to submit your site to the secondary search engines, but avoid doing that with the major search engines using their submission form. Using SEO might get you picked up organically, but the quickest way to make sure that your site is indexed on the major search engines is to use Web 2.0 methods.

Submitting and bookmarking your site, manually, to some good web 2.0 sites, such as digg.com, feedburner.com, zimbio.com, friendfeed.com to just name a few will take a little time, but not a huge amount. But they will provide backlinks and contribute to how ‘popular’ your site can be perceived by Google. There are tons of ways to get backlinks, and some are certainly more valuable than others. But the name of the game is ‘natural,’ or appearing to be natural to Google, so having a variety of backlink sources will only help you in the eyes of the major search engines. After your site got indexed you could use a software such as the SocialBot to automatically submit your site to different bookmarking sites.

Link Directories
Link directories can help increase your traffic if you submit your site to them. You should not just submit your site to random directories, but only to ones that are privately owned and consistently moderated. There are many directories that will accept your submission without charging you a fee. Getting listed with these directories can help raise the page rank of your website. The fact that all sites in these directories have to be approved also helps, as people will trust your site more when they see it listed in one of them. This can create traffic for you, as some people who use these directories will see your listing and click on it. If you want to automate the submission task check out the DirectoryBot tool.

Blog Commenting
If you start leaving comments on blogs, you can get more traffic to your site. This should be done correctly, however. You have to make a meaningful comment, not just ‘great blog’ or something like that. If you go around writing ‘nice blog!’ all over the internet, you will get the reputation of a spammer.

If you don’t want your posts to be deleted, you have to make relevant comments that respond to what others have written. This will prove that you actually read the blog and that you are participating in a helpful way. Making a useful comment also makes it more likely that the blog owner or other participants will click on your link, bringing you more traffic. If the blog owner appreciates what you’ve written, he may even grant you a spot on his blogroll!

Press Releases
Press releases are powerful, if done right. You’ll have no troubles at all finding sites that will distribute your PR’s. As with most everything else, you can find sites that charge for premium distribution, and others are free to use. It’s possible that your PR can get used by online/offline media outlets, but it has to be well-written and the product needs to be good. If that happened your traffic could spike significantly, overnight. Of course if your site converts, you could get hundreds of sales very quickly. Also, if you would like to submit your press release to many different directories you could use a software such as the PressBot.

Article Marketing
Another approach, or strategy, is to write articles which you can submit to directories, repurpose, etc. You’ll get to include an author bio box for your articles, so don’t forget those all-important links to your site. You’ll be able to submit to as many directories as you can find, if you want. The trick, however, is to create enough unique articles that you do not accidentally trigger any “duplicate content” alarms that the directories might have. Some directories are pretty hard about this, and they’ll ban you for doing it. You can avoid this problem by using good content spinners and creating at least a few unique articles every week. The more content you put out there, people will become more aware of you and your traffic will increase. For more information read my article marketing strategy post.

ArticleBot is a great and inexpensive software which allows you to submit your articles to many different article directories on autopilot. Click here and check it out yourself.

Guest Posting
Another tactic used by quite a few is to find sites and blogs where you can be a guest contributor. Article directories are fine, but if you can get your content onto an independent blog, you will be able to tap into that blog’s existing audience. You will get traffic if people read your content, like it, and it’s well done. But you’ll need to find authority sites to be willing to publish your content. You’ll just need to develop good relationship building skills.

PPC Advertising
If you want some instant traffic, use pay-per-click advertising.

Start out with a small budget so you don’t spend too much. If you word your ads carefully and creatively, you can get quite a few new visitors through these pay per click campaigns.

Google Adwords is the best known pay per click service It’s possible to build an entire online business using PPC. When you write your ads, keep in mind that the only way you will get visitors is if people actually click on them!

Video Marketing
If you haven’t tapped into the power of video marketing for your Internet marketing needs, you are leaving a lot of profit on the table. You absolutely have to try video marketing if you ever want to get more targeted traffic to your website in an inexpensive way. Many top Internet marketers have used this marketing medium to grow their online businesses and are still reaping in the benefits. You can read more about using video marketing to get more targeted traffic to your website on my video marketing post.

Social Networking
Register with several social media networks and fill out the profiles, including your website url. Having your profile on such high traffic sites as MySpace and Facebook can bring you a lot of publicity! If you use these sites in the right way, by joining groups and networking rather than spamming, you can build up huge amounts of traffic which can lead to lots of sales! You can get some hints on how to use these sites by looking at some of the profiles created by other marketers in your niche. You could build up quite a few repeat buyers!

A lot of people think they can side-step the work part when it comes to generating cash online. The truth is that you do have to do some work-but you don’t have to break your back. With a little bit of effort and time you could be driving thousands of new visitors to your websites and products. Always learn as much as possible, and that plus massive action will put you in good favor.

Great traffic generation tips. Do the directories themselves bring the traffic, or is it more about building links to boost your site in SERPs that brings the traffic?

@Kristi. The directories can bring some traffic to your sites too but in my opinion submitting your site to directories is more about building links to boost your site in the search engines.

@Jason. You should focus on getting traffic to your site. That’s the most important part. Without traffic you won’t be able to build a successful online business.

if you use article marketing for example you can drive traffic to your site through your author’s resource box and if you use one of your blogs keywords you can also build high quality links with your articles. So you do two things in one time.

Building backlings will increase search engine rankings which means more traffic, that’s why building links is so important too.

I think if I submit my blog to free link directories, then most of them ask me to put their links into my blog. I have one question for you Daniel, what’s the best traffic generation method in your opinion?

@suroz, Article marketing is the best traffic generation method in my opinion. With article marketing you not only get traffic from the articles itself you also get links back to your site which means you will get better search engine rankings equal more traffic.

And you can receive traffic from articles you wrote years ago. That’s not possible with any other medium.

Ok, let’s take a article directories. My last experiments show me that directories at ArticleDashboard engine – dont give value from them backlinks. And automate software is not very helpful for LinkBuilding. I choose one directory – and it is a Ezinearticles. I submit articles by hand, without programms, and it give more value in seo.

@John, if this strategy works for you, than stick with it. I myself will always use software to submit my articles to different article directories and I have had great results with it.

This technique gave always great value on all my sites. I get good Google rankings and also receive traffic from those directories and web 2.0 sites.

Another method I’ve used in the past to drive new traffic to my blog is to be a guest blogger and write a guest article. Its a good way to get new traffic and many people are open to accepting a guest article on their blog.

As a fellow blogger, I can recommend at least the following add-ons for your blog: KeywordLuv, CommentLuv, Akismet. Just try them! It is not hard at all and they will certainly benefit you! Regards.
