The Face of Successful Twitter Marketing

Twitter has grown over time as social platform and it has gained some real momentum in the past few years. It didn’t take Internet marketers very long to realize the benefits of being on Twitter as a fantastic method to create your own list of customers and reap those big profits. But there’s a right way and a wrong way to use Twitter to promote your business, and it’s critical to your success that you learn to do it correctly.

Marketing with Twitter, you should know that there are numerous mistakes that can be made. These are simple foibles that can easily be prevented. In this post I’ll be looking into a few such mistakes that you need to keep in mind if you’re planning to use Twitter as a marketing medium. If we learn from our mistakes, then they haven’t been too detrimental. It is even better to observe the mistakes of others and consider how to avoid those errors yourself:

Probably the most frequent error Twitter marketers make is that they have a misguided sense of how important their products and service are. Your Twitter following does not really give a hoot about products that you already offer, how business is going or when you are going to a new venue. The people you are trying to reach don’t really care about “you” at all but they’re a whole lot more interested in “ME.” Everyone wants the best for themselves. Even if you created a revolutionary software program that would make Bill Gates jealous, it doesn’t matter. What the really care about is how it can benefit them. In order for you to make this product important to them, you have to figure out how to make them believe that their life would be worse off if they don’t purchase your product. You can take great advantage of the power of Twitter if you can answer that burning question.

Another major problem that Twitter marketers run into is not giving enough information about their product. IF no one can figure out who you are you’re going to be ignored. Make sure that your Twitter page has pertinent information like a well written ad about yourself and a nice photograph. The first impression is very important, and you could lose a large number of customers if you don’t take the time to do this well. But always remember to keep things light in your biography. Many people that advertise on Twitter take themselves far too seriously, and lose prospects as a result. Users on Twitter login to have some fun and socialize with others. Don’t complicate the lives of your potential Twitter following by being too serious. Your tweets need to be spiced up and have a tinge of humor to them. That’s the best way to gain a prospect’s interest in your offerings. Just don’t be too dry and colorless.

By not following up with personal communication and ignoring individual contact, another serious blunder will be committed– one that is frequently made by Twitter marketers. It tells your audience that growing your business is your only focus, with no genuine care for building relationships or long term commitment to your followers. It is important to show real interest in a prospect’s questions, and to take care in answering them. Disregarding personal communication from your followers creates a negative image for your brand. Your main concern should be creating an impression of trust and esteem. Ultimately, you must remember to seize an opportunity. The steady growth of your business by making sales with a Twitter account is your ultimate goal. So when you provide value to your followers, you should make your offer at the right time. The only way you are going to make a sale is by letting people know you are selling something of their interest.

Excellent post. Twitter is one of the most popular social networking applications on the Internet and its popularity continues to grow stronger each day. To me, the rise of Twitter feels a lot like what happened with Facebook early last year. So, using it as a business toll is definitely a rocking idea.

Good stuff. Most marketers are using Twitter to simply drive more traffic to their web site. The most common tactics are direct linking to web pages or promotional pages.

I know it’s not a marketing strategy, but when I have trained agents within my board on web 2.0 and the vaule of Twitter. We encourage Brokers to make their Agents tweet every 30 minutes of what they are doing. It’s a good way for a Broker to keep a pulse on what is happening within their company and also encourage Agent productivity. Just a Twitter tip. :)

For businesses, there are a number of benefits to using Twitter. Many of which deal with the real-time gathering of information. Twitter allows you to interact with potential prospects and your target audience. While you do not want to be “in their face” all of the time, Twitter does allow you to engage with these people by re-tweeting their posts or responding to something that they may have tweeted about….

Hey guess what? Your competitors are on Twitter. As a result you might want to consider monitoring their tweets from time to time to see what they are working on. Perhaps they are preparing to launch a new product or are opening a new branch. Heck maybe they are going through massive layoffs and an opportunity presents itself to acquire them or at least hire some of their laid off employees. Twitter can be a great environment for monitoring what the competition is doing. It can also be a great way just to see how your competition is using Twitter themselves. Perhaps you can pick up a tip or two.
